Meet Our Team
Dr. Brian Powderly | Executive Director/Superintendent
Dr. Powderly has served as a teacher, coach, advisor, assistant principal, and principal. He focuses on meeting students where they are and moving them toward their goals. He’s driven by helping each student find employment, enlistment, or enrollment. He and his wife Melanie are parents to two teenage daughters who are the best part of his day and pursuing their educational goals. Growing up a self-proclaimed “military brat,” Dr. Powderly enjoys traveling, reading, yard work, and cooking. He’s excited to help ODLS students reach their dreams—starting with graduation!
Theresa Bourgeois | EMIS & Federal Funds Coordinator
Mrs. Bourgeois earned her Bachelor of Education from Adrian College in 2013. Her educational journey has been marked by a passionate commitment to making a difference in students’ lives. She embarked on her educational career as a 2nd grade teacher, and her dedication and innovative teaching methods soon led her to transition into a pivotal role as dean of academics. Mrs. Bourgeois joined ODLS in 2019 and has been integral to the school community since. She works closely with the attendance team to ensure the school’s operations run smoothly. Beyond her professional life, she enjoys scrapbooking, reading, and supporting her two children at sporting events. Mrs. Bourgeois lives in Rossford, Ohio, with her husband, children, and dog.
Angie Day | Principal
Ms. Day has more than 15 years of experience in math teaching and administration, including roles as a math remediation specialist and federal programs manager. Her career demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and student success. Ms. Day passionately advocates for effective teaching strategies and educational equity. She considers her students an extension of her family and is dedicated to their growth and development. Outside work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, particularly on the water and around a campfire. At home, she manages a bustling household with six children, two dogs, a cat, a lizard, and multiple chickens.
Megan Kovach | Special Programs Director & Academic Administrator
With 13 years of experience in education, Ms. Kovach has held diverse roles, including intervention specialist, general education English language arts teacher, and section 504 coordinator. She earned her undergraduate degree in English and professional writing and editing from the University of Akron. Ms. Kovach furthered her education with a Master of Arts in teaching from Point Loma Nazarene University and is currently completing a second master’s degree in educational leadership. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Ms. Laura Houghton
Ms. Laura Houghton chose to work with ODLS and K12 due to the mission of students first. Prior to coming to ODLS, Ms. Houghton worked for Insight School of Michigan as an advisor. Following her passion of supporting students to be successful, Ms. Houghton took the role of student support administrator at ODLS. She’s excited to be working with a team of passionate people who understand the need to assist students in engaging daily in their schoolwork to help them complete their high school academic journey and earn a diploma.
Ms. Houghton has her certification in practical nursing and massage therapy but has found that working with students is where she truly belongs. She’s excited to be at ODLS and looks forward to providing support and encouragement to help ODLS students meet their academic goals. When not working with students, spending time with her husband and four children also brings her great joy.
