Student Success Programs
How Online Learning Works
In order to be successful, it’s important to understand how online learning works. With online learning, your teen can learn at home, or wherever there’s an internet connection, while enjoying the benefits and support of a school program. They’ll complete a mix of online lessons and offline activities, using K12-provided books and materials.* State-certified teachers provide instruction in virtual sessions called “Class Connects.”
What to Expect
Personalized Approach
No matter what challenges students have faced, or are still facing, Ohio Digital Learning School (ODLS) believes in unlocking every student’s potential. Ohio-certified teachers tailor their instruction to each student. In coordination with our experienced Family Support Advisor and counselors, our teachers help students get motivated, set goals, and stay on track for graduation.
We couple proven teaching techniques with interactive learning to help students feel engaged, empowered, and challenged. By incorporating audio, video, live chat, printed materials, and group interactions into the curriculum, our students can learn in the ways that work best for them. Class Connects provide one-to-one student–teacher meetings and live instructional sessions.
To address each student’s individual needs, we give them a benchmark test to assess their skills in various subjects. From there, we place students in appropriate courses, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and chart their progress.
Students take a career interest inventory. Based on their results, an Individualized Career Plan is created to guide them on potential career choices.
We help students map out career and higher education goals by offering a college and career planning tool and personalized support.
We also make sure students receive the personalized attention to help them perform at their grade level. The ODLS academic team’s remediation program identifies students’ specific skill deficiencies and develops individualized remediation plans to address skill gaps. We then prescribe a personalized plan for each student, use a proven model of instruction, and track and analyze performance. In case a student needs to recover a credit, our credit recovery courses are designed to efficiently and effectively make that happen.
