Who is eligible to attend Ohio Digital Learning School (ODLS)?
Students in grades 9–12 must be Ohio residents who are between 16 and 21 years old to attend our online school.
What does it cost to attend Ohio Digital Learning School?
There is no tuition for Ohio residents in grades 9–12 to enroll at or attend ODLS because we are an online public school. Students must have access to a computer with an internet connection to attend Ohio Digital Learning School. To ensure you have the equipment you need for school, we provide each student with a loaner laptop. These laptops are the property of Ohio Digital Learning School and must be returned when the student leaves the school. ODLS highly recommends that families accept our loaner computer, as we are then able to assist with technical and software issues. Internet stipends may be available to families who qualify based on income guidelines.
Like traditional public schools, some common household items—such as printer ink, pens, and paper—aren’t provided by our school.
Please contact us to determine if your family qualifies for an internet stipend.
What is the attendance policy?
As Ohio public school students, all students enrolled in Ohio Digital Learning School must comply with the state-required minimum number of 1,001 instructional hours per year. ODLS works with students and families to achieve a positive attendance record and required hours of attendance are prorated for late enrollees.
Can our family take a vacation during the school year?
Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. Our ODLS school calendar includes school holidays and vacation time. Parents are encouraged to contact their student’s teacher if they plan a vacation that does not coordinate with the school calendar.
How do I enroll my student?
Start by creating an account in the K12 enrollment portal or logging in to your existing account and completing the ODLS online enrollment form. Please be prepared to provide copies of documents within 30 days, such as:
- Proof of residence (e.g., a driver’s license or state ID, tax record, utility bill, etc.)
- Proof of age (e.g., a birth certificate or other reliable proof of the pupil’s identity and age)
For a list of specific documents, contact our enrollment consultants at 855.827.3613. You can also view Four Simple Steps to Enroll for a step-by-step tutorial.
How will I know when my student’s enrollment has been approved?
Our enrollment processing center will contact you to inform you that your enrollment has been approved or that documents are still needed to process your application. Once your enrollment has been approved, an Ohio Digital Learning School representative will call you to discuss enrollment in ODLS’s program and course placement.
What if my student is behind on credits or failing classes?
At ODLS, we specialize in addressing the needs of students who are struggling. Our credit recovery courses and remediation program help students get back on track. The remediation program offers a targeted approach to building skills and knowledge in critical high school subject areas. Our efficient approach to credit recovery allows students to test out of material they’ve already learned and focus strictly on what they need to learn to pass, often allowing them to stay on top of their current classes while catching up. Credit recovery courses are also offered during special summer sessions.
If my student has been expelled from another school, can they enroll at ODLS?
Each case will be reviewed based on records from your current or former school district. As an Ohio public school, ODLS may honor current expulsions from another district. Approval for enrollment will not be granted until the case is reviewed.
